Uganda Wildlife Education Centre

The Uganda Wildlife Education Centre (UWEC) opened in 1952 and was restored in 1994, following Uganda's political turmoil. 90% of the centre's operation costs are donor funded and its main aims are to foster educational programmes on conservation, rescue and rehabilitate animals and run captive breeding programmes. It also offers:

• A large variety of animal species - many of which have been rescued from poachers, illegal trade or accidents
• A medicinal plants garden
• A 1,000m forest trail, populated by monkeys and butterflies
• A man-made beach on the shoreline of Lake Victoria
• Cultural entertainment every Sunday
• Children's play area, including donkey rides, ‘animal burrows' and modern play equipment
• A restaurant overlooking the lake

The accommodation is set within the centre, and is a good base for anyone travelling to and from the airport, or as an exotic stop-over in Entebbe.

• Charge: $10

Cancellation Policy:

• 100% payment up front in order to secure your booking
• Any cancellations made more than 30 days before the date of arrival incur a fee of 50% of your payment
• 8-30 days - a cancellation fee of 50%
• 0-7 days - a cancellation fee of 100%
